My Artefact

6th April 2013

This is my artefact so far. I still have some changes to make with sound.

Ive changed some of my drawings and scenes to neaten things up.
I know my drawings aren't the best, but ive not done Art or anything of that sort before and its quite difficult to keep a steady hand with the computer mouse!

To be fair, i think my drawing has improved since doing Motion Graphics and even more so since the start of my Final Year Project.

Ive spent a lot of time practising and working on my drawing skills.

To make up for the not so good drawings, I have tried to perfect the techniques and effects ive used.

I used a variety of techniques and effects to make my artefact:

Write-on Effect - to introduce new scenes and objects
3D Space - for the money scene, where the camera moves around the scene
Masks - used for transitions in the anti wrinkle cream scene and to introduce facts between scenes
Mask Paths - to animate text movement in the breast augmentation scene
Cameras - to move through scenes
Time Stretch - to slow down and speed up clips such as the scissor clip in the cosmetic surgery scene
Drop Shadow - to create depth in the dieting scene
Expressions - to loop character walk cycles
Fractal Noise - to create the curtain
Mesh Warp - to add realism to the curtain movement
Puppet Tool - to animate the characters walk cycle
CC Slant - to add realism to the curtains opening

I used Final Cut Pro to make my adverts. I filmed a few takes of each clip with a Sony Ex-1 camera. I set up the lighting for high fashion shoots where the lighting is quite washed out making skin glow and look flawless.

I imported the clips into Final Cut
I then chose the clips i wanted and put them into the timeline
I placed them along the timeline as i wanted the advert to play
I colour corrected the clips and added a glow effect to them
I added wipes and fades as tranisitions between each
I then made then writing for the adverts in After Effects, i put an image of the product in the middle and key framed the texts movements in and out of the screen
I then imported this into Final Cut and put it in the timeline
I exported the advert as a QuickTime file and imported it into After Effects.
